Custom clearance & ATA Carnet

All crews bringing their own filming equipment to Indonesia must declare it to the Customs Authority and lodge a bond, refunded when the equipment leaves the country. Temporary import approval is valid for 12 months and can be extended.
ATA Carnet in Indonesia
Since May 2015 Indonesia accepts the ATA Carnet: international customs documents for the temporary admission of goods that remove the obligation to pay customs duty and tax. The National Guaranteeing Association is KADIN Indonesia.
Accepted: exhibitions and fairs, professional equipment.
Accepted for transit operations and unaccompanied goods.
Not accepted: commercial samples or postal traffic.
Film shooting requires
Apply for a shooting permit via the Indonesian Embassy at least 30 days before departure.
Recommendation from the film producer.
Journalist visa application (double form per person).
Passport copies, team member list, CVs.
Synopsis, schedule, locations, and full equipment list.
Additional members or equipment require a new application.
An official government recommendation letter can accelerate licensing.
Natural Reserves need a special SIMAKSI permit from the Directorate General for Natural Protection and Conservation, Ministry of Forestry.
CBP/ATA Carnet list for re-export of equipment.
Media coverage & journalist visits
Covering a story rather than shooting a full production? The process is the same: recommendation letter from your TV station or producer, journalist visa application, passport copies and a synopsis/schedule, just without the equipment manifest and re-export paperwork.
Paperwork to submit
Applicant/company profile and personal history.
Fixer contact details and application form.
Crew list and passport copies.
Synopsis, shooting schedule, equipment list.
Statement letter: observe regulations, report on arrival, keep a local partner/fixer, shoot per schedule and locations, no vital/strategic objects, bear all expenses, re-export all equipment.
One copy to the Ministry of Education through the Indonesian embassy.
Please send us color scans of your passport, visa copies, and crew photos for location and travel permits. Contact us for the application form: mail@archipelagofilmservice.com
